Jeremy: (Mother is happy to be contacted through NEU.WAYS)

Age at assessment: 8 yrs 2m.

Length of therapy:  20 weeks

Jeremy was diagnosed with ‘Global Development Delay’

Difficulties experienced by Jeremy:

  1. -language slow to develop,

  2. -no eye contact,

  3. -extreme constant tiredness,

  4. -prone to unexpected outbursts,

  5. -hated being touched (specially on head and face),

  6. -poor muscle tone provoking problems with gross and fine motor skills,

  7. -never got involved with other children,

  8. -never really played with toys,

  9. -could not cope with any change in his life,

  10. -and more…

Improvements with  NEU.WAYS  therapy:

  1. -improved sleep, Jeremy wakes up refreshed in the morning (more energy, more stamina, calmer, emotions more levelled out,

  2. -now copes with changes in circumstances: does not cling to mother anymore,

  3. -his speech has improved dramatically, he now expresses himself clearly and easily,

  4. -his social skills have improved: Jeremy now makes friends, relates to people in age appropriate manner, can approach other children and join in their games,

Miriam:

Age at assessment: 11 yrs 3 m.

Length of therapy:  33 weeks

Miriam had many retained reflexes which provoked many difficulties, which were  alleviated through the therapy. For example:

Reading age at second visit:        8 yrs (Schonell test)

Reading age at end of therapy: 10 yrs 10 m.  

Gain in 29 weeks:                          2 yrs 10 m

There were NO remedial reading sessions during this time – only NEU.WAYS therapy.





Callum:

Diagnosed: ADD

Age at assessment: 12 yrs 2 m.

Length of therapy: 18 weeks

Callum had many retained reflexes which provoked many difficulties, which were alleviated through the therapy. For example:

Jessica:

Age at assessment: 8 yrs 6 m.

Length of therapy: 15 weeks

  4. -better co-ordination

  5. -better self-esteem

  6. -spelling, reading and behaviour in school have seen a great improvement





Ashley:

Age at assessment: 12 yrs 1 m.

Length of therapy: 19 weeks

Ashley had many retained reflexes, which provoked many difficulties, which were alleviated through NEU.WAYS therapy. For example:

  1. -Bed-wetting problem: solved by therapy

  2. -Reading age at start of therapy: 11 yrs 6 m (Schonell test) at end of therapy:  13 yrs 8 m. Improvement in 18 weeks: 2 yrs 2 m.

NO remedial reading lessons were given during this time – only NEU.WAYS therapy.





Elizabeth: (Mother is happy to be contacted through NEU.WAYS)

Age at assessment: 14 yrs

Length of therapy: 16 weeks

Elizabeth was diagnosed at age 7 with “Asperger Syndrome”

At Assessment :

-Elizabeth was withdrawn, avoiding eye contact and answering only “yes” or “no”.

-She walked with an unusual gait ;

-could not relate to her siblings or her peers.

-She experienced difficulties with sport as with all movements requiring coordination.

-She would never play or even communicate unless bribed into it.

-Her school work was far below age ability level.

-Elizabeth was very sensitive to noise, as well as to touch.

-She reacted strongly to any “invasion” of her personnel space (many people in the same room would be perceived by Elizabeth as invasion of her space).

-Elizabeth did not like being touched.

-And more…

Improvements with NEU.WAYS therapy:

-maintains eye contact when talking with people (even unfamiliar people) ;

-now has a relationship with her siblings.

-Elizabeth’s posture has changed, she now walks erect with her head straight.

-She now participates more and more in school activities (went to an ‘adventure-survival camp’ when she accepted to go abseiling!!!)

-Is now able to have ‘sleep overs’ at friend’s homes.

-Feels comfortable when her family is entertaining ;

-She has passed her Year 10 School Certificate this year, without difficulties.

-She cuddles her younger siblings with pleasure.

Cory:

Age at assessment: 7 yrs 10 m.

Length of therapy:  27 weeks

Cory was diagnosed with AD/HD, he was on heavy doses of medication.

At assessment, Cory presented with the following problems:

-disturbed sleep (cannot go to sleep, wakes often, moves a lot, needs to be woken up in the morning, wakes up tired),

-could not blow his nose by himself,

-no short term memory (Cory could not do the exercises by himself – his mother had to move his body in the required positions for the first 6 weeks of the therapy),

-no stamina, no muscle tone,

-no awareness of the place of his body in space,

-never participated to class activities, discussion,

-did not socialise,

-was unable to empathise,

-used to sit down and cry every day… for long periods of time,

-and more…

Improvements with NEU.WAYS therapy:

-ability to blow his own nose,

-better listening and comprehension skills,

-started to tell his family about his school day,

-became aware of his mother’s needs (tired = needed a cup of tea…),

-started to eat better and regularly,

-improved behaviour at school and home (awareness of what is expected of him),

-strength in legs started developing,

-started dancing … rhythm on music (coordination, self esteem),

-started associated with other children,

-started remembering numbers at school,

-then started remembering his letters (reading became possible),

-started speaking in full sentences,

-became able to pedal on his bike, then pedal and direct his bike. At the end of the therapy, Cory could ride his bike without little wheels!

  1. -  Finally, the speech therapist declared her happiness with Cory’s progress and the O.T. declares Cory did not need to come and work with her any more.
